Road accidents resulting in personal injury
or death are regrettably frequent in Barbados, as they are in
most countries in the world. Fortunately, there is a very well
developed insurance industry in Barbados and most insurance claims
are settled promptly and in accordance with contractual obligations.
In those instances where claims are disputed or where issues
of liability for negligence or quantum of damages need to be
decided by the Court, the services of an attorney will be necessary,
whether for a party to the accident or for an insurance company.
The law of negligence resulting
in death or personal injuries in Barbados is to be found in
English common law and in the Barbados Accident Compensation
(Reform) Act, Cap. 193A. |
